Frosty Morning

Frosty Morning

Encaustic painting on oil panel.

8" square

This painting refers to the typical New England morning when we've had a bit of light rain, it's just at the freezing point with fog or mist in the air, and all the trees are covered with a thin coating of frost, called hoarfrost or rime. Everything is white and it starts to shimmer as the sun comes out. It will melt pretty quickly but it's pretty while it lasts. Of course it also means we're about to have a freezing New England winter.
